Former chief democrat Lulzim Basha chose to speak to the media in the courtyard of the Assembly, accusing Prime Minister Edi Rama of trying to hinder the work of SPAK.
"This government is under the anxiety of numerous corrupt affairs, that the wind takes away the words. That behind the words of alleged support for SPAK, is hidden the purposeful day-to-day activity of the prime minister of the country, the mayor of Tirana, the ministers and former ministers of Edi Rama, to prevent at any cost and with any means award the work of the Special Anticorruption Structure. It is already clear from both Brussels and Washington that the government of Albania is the most corrupt government in Ballilkan", stated Basha.
Basha connected his accusations against the head of the government with the block that the majority made to the proposals of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats, which, according to him, would help strengthen SPAK.
"It is clear that SPAK, with all its dedication in the fight against corruption, poses a vital threat not only to the government but also to Edi Rama's confrontation with justice. But this can never be a reality in a country where the vast majority of Albanians, as shown in study after study, support SPAK because they want to end not only the corrupt affairs that have taken the breath of the economy, that have destroyed Albanian families, who have put the future of Albanian children at risk, but even though they want after 34 years of seemingly endless transition, to put an end to corruption and put an end to the affairs of the rulers and a pseudo-justice to protect instead of hitting the corrupt Albanians by creating a culture of impunity", he said.
In the following, Basha claimed that the government is making theater with verbal support for SPAK. According to him, this show is being done to cover up the truth.
"And the truth is, as shown by the 1-year blocking of our proposals to help SPAK, that Edi Rama and his government are on a collision course and conflict of interest with SPAK. There is no other reason why these amendments, in total opposition to any parliamentary practice, are not included in the agenda, are not taken to the laws committee, are not discussed. Because their discussion would expose them", underlined Basha. (A2 Televizion)
