Electronic voting, CEC takes to the streets, starts testing equipment

The Central Election Commission has begun testing electronic devices that will be used in the May 11 parliamentary elections, while also training interested citizens.

At three points in unit 10 in the capital and one in the Municipality of Vora, CEC staff have taken electronic voting and identification equipment to the streets, demonstrating to the curious how they can vote in two weeks in these two local units.

If voting and counting is limited, electronic identification will be extended to 5,225 polling stations that will be set up across the country.

CEC representatives are confident that electronic identification will not present any problems in implementation, unlike what happened two years ago where the head of the CEC himself was unable to vote with the first one because the device was not working.

Although it is a process that has been implemented since the 2021 parliamentary elections, electronic identification continues to have costs due to updating the computer program.

If electronic identification devices are used in all polling stations, the electronic voting and counting devices will remain in storage as only 75 devices will be used, because the opposition did not trust the technology. (A2 Televizion)
