The Movement for National Development and the newly formed party "Right 1912" presented today the platform for a broad coalition, for the new elections to be held in May 2025.
Through a joint press release, LZHK and "Djahttas 1912" inform that the creation of this coalition comes as a need for the unification of those entities that support the opening of the lists, a request of small parties that was rejected a few days ago by Constitutional Court.
"In conditions where the main political groups have closed electoral lists and strengthened a system that favors authoritarian and corrupt governance, it is essential to take a joint and determined action. All those who support the opening of electoral lists and share the values of democracy should unite in a broad and powerful pre-election coalition.
The "Right 1912" party, LZHK and other political forces have used every legal and institutional means to guarantee respect for the constitutional right of citizens to elect their representatives. Our efforts at the Constitutional Court to restore the Electoral Code in accordance with the Constitution and to open the electoral rolls did not achieve the desired result. This constitutes a lost opportunity for the democratization of the country and for the overthrow of a failed political system.
However, opportunities for change remain open. Albanian society urgently requires a political and social transformation. Being inspired by this moment and the demands of the citizens, today we publicly present a platform for the creation of a broad coalition, based on the values of democracy, representation and civic involvement.
This platform is an appeal to all political, public and citizen actors and factors who wish to contribute to building a fairer and better Albania. Our aim is not only to improve the political offer, but also to concretize it in a broad coalition that reflects the demands of the citizens for change", the communique reads. (A2 Televizion)
