May 11 elections, Minister Hoxha gathers prefects in Gjirokastra: 100 thousand

The preparation of the infrastructure for the May 11 elections was the focus of the meeting of the Minister of Interior Ervin Hoxha in Gjirokastra with the prefects of the regions. In his speech after the meeting, the minister emphasized that the meeting discussed all the responsibilities that the Prefects of the Regions must take in implementing the law and the Electoral Code. According to the minister, so far there are about 100 thousand Albanian citizens who have registered on the CEC platform for the May 11 elections.

"Today, following the meetings we have periodically with the District Prefects, we held a meeting in Gjirokastra where we talked about all the measures taken and the coordination for the preparation and establishment of the infrastructure for the May 11 elections. We discussed in detail all the responsibilities that the District Prefects must take in implementing the law and the Electoral Code. Currently, all the plans of measures have been drafted. The District Prefects in cooperation with the Municipalities, the State Police will be able to establish the infrastructure and plan the May 11, 2025 elections in a regular manner. Currently, we have about 100 thousand Albanian citizens who have registered on the CEC platform for the May 11 elections."

Regarding the Diaspora's vote, Minister Hoxha emphasized that the government approved the decision to extend the validity periods of identity cards and biometric passports.

"Regarding the diaspora vote, the Albanian Government approved the decision on Wednesday, whereby all Albanian citizens whose identity cards and biometric passports had expired will be able to vote for the May 11 elections. This validity has been extended until May 31, 2025." (A2 Televizion)
