The municipality of Pustec, which is the only municipality in the country that has 100% of its territory as a protected natural park, is facing serious difficulties when it comes to providing firewood for heating. The inspectors of the regional directorate of protected areas have not allowed the cutting of wood in this area, neither by the residents nor by the municipality itself.
Found in these conditions and unable to provide heating in other ways, several dozen residents have protested near the municipality building.
According to the officials of the protected areas, the municipality of Pustec does not have a place to store the wood it needs for the residents. From previous years, it is suspected that more wood was cut than was needed, and therefore this year it is not allowed to cut wood indiscriminately in the national natural park. However, for the mayor of Pustec, this point of the agreement should be tolerated as the residents are in serious difficulties.
Officially, the needs for firewood for the residents of Pustec are about 8000m3, which are provided in the protected areas, since the municipality itself does not have any forest area in its ownership. (A2 Televizion)
