Refereeing is the greatest passion in life for these girls. Ever since they were little, they dreamed of always being around sports. Even though it is a difficult field, despite every obstacle, they express their desire to be part of the judging panel in a football match.
Emanuela Rusta is one of the most recognizable names in refereeing. In 2019, she received the FIFA emblem, becoming the first Albanian woman to receive such an award, and not only that, Rusta broke the taboo by becoming the first woman to referee a match in the Albanian Men's Super League, writes A2.
Her story is inspiring for any girl who wants to become a referee. Having been in this field for more than 11 years, Rusta does not deny the fact that she has often faced prejudice.
Today, many Albanian referees, including many girls, have the FIFA badge. Edjena Kapxhiu and Mirjeta Salla are two of them. They have been part of refereeing for more than 10 years, and they show how this passion began.
Even though there have been many difficult moments for them, they have never given up on their greatest passion.
Year after year, in addition to the increasing level, the interest in becoming a referee has also grown. This is stated by the head of the refereeing sector at the Albanian Football Federation, Sokol Jareci, who among other things indicates that the future in this sector is promising.
