Bayern Munich have increased the pressure on Bayer Leverkusen, extending their lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to nine points after a comfortable 3-0 win over Werder Bremen.
It was a seventh straight win for Vincent Kompany's side. After a 5-0 defeat in the first leg in September, Bremen were determined to mount a stronger response in the return leg at the Allianz Arena.
They survived the first half without conceding a single goal, despite Bayern's numerous chances. Jamal Musiala had a beautiful shot saved by goalkeeper Michael Zetterer, while Kingsley Coman and Michael Olise both fired the ball over the crossbar.
Harry Kane also had a chance, but his header went wide. In the second half, Kane became the hero, scoring the first goal from the penalty spot after a powerful strike. He scored the penalty to take his tally to 20 goals this season.
After a second attempt from Upamecano, which was saved by Zetterer, two substitutions were made by Kompany.
Konrad Laimer provided the perfect assist for Leroy Sané, who scored Bayern's second goal. In the dying minutes, Werder Bremen's Anthony Jung had a difficult moment, giving Bayern another penalty, which Kane converted, maintaining his perfect penalty record. (A2 Televizion)
