The Madonnina derby returns. After triumphing in the Super Cup final at the beginning of January, Milan will face Inter again, with the aim of eliminating the neroli from the race for the Serie A title.
In Sunday's match, at 18:00, the Devils could deal a major blow to the black and blues' ambitions for the championship crown, giving Napoli an assist. The title race in Italy has become a two-way race, with Antonio Conte's team leading, also favored by the fact that they are not involved in European cups.
Inter, on the other hand, will be keen to avoid any false steps in the duel with their eternal city rivals, as this would complicate the fight for the title defence. The red and blacks led by Sergio Conceiçao are in seventh place with 34 points, while the second-placed black and blues have 50 points, 3 less than leaders Napoli, while they still have a game to recover.
Milan are favored by history in recent weeks, having beaten Inter twice this season. In September they won 1-2 in the championship with the Nerazzurri as the host team, while most recently they pulled off an incredible comeback from 0-2 to 3-2 to claim the Italian Super Cup.
A third win of the season would see Milan secure three consecutive victories over their big rivals for the first time since 2011. Conceiçao, on the other hand, who made 41 Serie A appearances for Inter between 2001 and 2003, could become only the second Milan coach in 35 years to win his first two derbies.
Only Allegri has achieved something like this between 2010 and 2011. (A2 Televizion)
