90 million euro failure, Neymar leaves Al-Hilal, returns to Santos in Brazil

Neymar's adventure at Al-Hilal is over. The Saudi Arabian club and the striker have agreed to terminate his contract. The Pro League champions made the decision official, which came after the 32-year-old's disappointing adventure.

Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer, with 79 goals in 128 appearances, has struggled to return to form after suffering a knee injury in October 2023, tearing ligaments in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay.

"Al-Hilal Club and Neymar Jr. decided to end their contractual cooperation by bilateral agreement," said the announcement posted by the Arabs on the 'X' platform.

The striker has played just seven games for Al-Hilal since his transfer from Paris Saint Germain, for around 90 million euros, in the summer of 2023.

Brazilian media have reported that Neymar will return to his hometown club Santos. There he was discovered as a talent and exploded at a young age, before moving to Barcelona in 2013. In August 2017, he was transferred from the Catalans to Paris Saint Germain for a record fee of 222 million euros.
