FIFA of wonders! No "fans" behind the goals against Serbia, punishment

FIFA has fined the Albanian Football Federation after discriminatory behavior by Albanian fans during the match with Andorra, valid for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

The Disciplinary Committee of the world football governing body has decided to fine the Albanian Football Association (AFH) 20,000 Swiss francs and close at least 20% of the stadium for Albania's next match.

According to the announcement from the Federation, this decision will prioritize the stands behind the goals. The Reds return to the field on June 7, when they will play Serbia at the National Arena in a valuable challenge for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

"FIFA has fined the Albanian Football Federation after the discriminatory behavior of Albanian fans during the 2026 World Cup qualifying match against Andorra, held at the "Arena Kombëtare" stadium on March 24, 2025.

The FIFA Disciplinary Committee considers the fans' behavior unacceptable and has imposed a fine of 20,000 Swiss francs on the Albanian Football Association, as well as the closure of at least 20% of the stadium for Albania's next match in FIFA competitions, with priority given to the stands behind the goals.

According to the decision given by FIFA, this 20% can be filled by community groups or anti-discrimination organizations, with prior approval from the world football governing body. Also, within 6 months, the AFF must draft and submit an improved anti-discrimination plan that must be approved by FIFA.

The Federation calls on fans to continue supporting the National Team, creating a warm and positive atmosphere and invites them to show citizenship and respect through correct behavior towards the opposing team, to avoid any situation that could harm the red and black team.

"The AFF remains awaiting FIFA's instructions on how to implement the decision," the AFF announced. (A2 Televizion)
