Referee suspended for asking for Leo Messi's autograph

Referee Ortiz Nava has been suspended from football for six months because he asked Leo Messi for an autograph at the end of the match.

The Mexican approached the Inter Miami striker at the end of the first match against Kansas City, valid for the North and Central American Confederation Champions League.

The scene was captured by cameras broadcasting the game, while Kansas City officials also reported the incident.

The confederation immediately launched an investigation and deemed the action inappropriate and a violation of the norms of the code of conduct.

Although he defended himself by stating that he asked for the autograph for a family member with special needs, the referee ultimately accepted the 6-month suspension. (A2 Televizion)
