Porto eliminated by Roma, Ajax also qualifies

On Thursday, all the teams that secured a ticket to the 1/8 stage of the Europa League were found out. Roma celebrated qualification as they beat Porto 3-2 at the Olimpico after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

A beautiful and hard-fought match between the two teams, with the Portuguese taking the lead through Agehova. However, the Portuguese's lead did not last long when Paolo Dybala turned the tables with two goals in the first half.

The second half started badly for the visitors when Stefan Estakuio was sent off and the team was reduced to one man for nearly 40 minutes. Roma took advantage of this and scored the third goal through Nicolo Pisili, bringing the score to 3-1.

Until the end, the Portuguese did their best to pull off the surprise, but the goal in the 96th minute from Rensk was not enough to at least send the match into extra time.

The surprise was Galatasaray, who said goodbye to the Europa League. The Turks could not overturn a 4-0 defeat in the Netherlands and after conceding two goals, drew 2-2, being eliminated from the competition.

Osimhen and Sallai's goals were worthless for the Turks returning home and now the focus is solely on the Turkish Super League.

Meanwhile, Ajax, despite losing 1-2 to the Belgians of Union, qualified further thanks to a 2-0 victory in the first leg. Kevin McAllister and Akipelu scored twice for the guests in the first half while the Dutch reduced the gap with Taylor in the 93rd minute of extra time.

As for the other matches, a ticket to the next round was given to Real Sociedad who defeated Midtjylland 5-2, Twente was eliminated by Bodø/Glimt, while Viktoria Plzen defeated Ferencvaros 3-0 and advances to the last 16 of the Europa League. (A2 Televizion)
