The Champions League is preparing to change again. After the revolution with the format of the event, which this edition brought together the participating teams in a common group, the next innovation from UEFA could be related to the spread of the brand and television rights.
This would make it the first time in history that the Champions League will be brought to the United States. According to the daily newspaper “The Independent”, starting from the period 2027 to 2033, the television rights of the most prestigious club event globally could be managed by Relevent Sports. The company, which owns the sports rights in the American market, has held exclusive negotiations with UEFA and the European Club Association.
The company, owned by billionaire Stephen Ross, organizes the International Champions Cup and is interested in bringing big-name soccer to America. It currently has an agreement with La Liga to host a Spanish league match in the United States, writes A2 CNN.
If Relevent Sports manages to win the global broadcasting and commercial rights, it would pave the way for the Champions League final to be held overseas. Such an idea has been considered by UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin, who has been positive about the argument. (A2 Televizion)
