Albania has marked a historic moment in water sports, with the organization of the First National Kitesurfing Championship, which took place on the beach of Durrës, in the area known as the "Youth Sector".
Over 30 passionate athletes from Albania and the region gathered to compete in an event that brought the energy, excitement and dynamism of this extreme sport to our country for the first time. Equipped with powerful surfboards and parachutes that guided them at speed over the waves, the participants challenged not only each other, but also nature itself, under the effect of strong winds and unexpected sea conditions.
The atmosphere on the beach was electrifying. With bright colors from the parachutes fluttering in the air, athletes in constant action, a large audience enthusiastically following every maneuver in the water, and rhythmic music from the DJ accompanying the competition, the “Youth” Sector was transformed for several hours into an open stage of energy and freedom.
This championship comes as part of efforts to promote Kitesurfing as a new discipline in Albania, with clear potential in the development of active and sports tourism. The organizers say that the goal is to make this competition an annual event, placing Albania on the map of preferred destinations for water sports in the Mediterranean. (A2 Televizion)
