The new Commissioner for Enlargement in the European Union, Marta Kos, said that she is talking to Prime Minister Edi Rama about organizing a basketball match between a representative of EU member states and a representative of candidate countries, A2 CNN reports.
According to her, sport has the power to unite peoples regardless of the borders between them and this would be a way to help the European integration process.
"For me, culture and sport have a special power to unite people across borders. We are talking with candidate countries to organize a football match between a team made up of candidate countries and a team of member countries. I think if we have sports members from the commission, or from the European Parliament... including women, of course, they are welcome," Kos said during her speech at the European Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee that took place on Tuesday.
