A police officer in Peru conducted an anti-drug raid in Lima over the weekend dressed as "The Grinch," the iconic holiday character from the books of Dr. Seuss, writes A2 CNN. The officer, dressed in festive attire, first blended in unnoticed into a local activity before using a hammer to force his way into a house suspected of being operated by drug traffickers, according to Peru's National Police.

Police chief Carlos López announced in a video on X that the operation, carried out by the "Green Squad", destroyed the San Bartolo Mafia, a group accused of drug trafficking in the resorts south of Lima. López explained that the Grinch's costume was chosen to match the holiday season, calling the character "a good Grinch who likes Christmas but is an enemy of criminals."

During the operation, three suspects were arrested and various amounts of drugs were seized. The current legal status of those arrested remains unknown.

This is not the first time that Peruvian police use suits during raids. In 2020, officers dressed up as Santa and an elf for a drug operation, while earlier this year, another officer dressed up as a bear for a Valentine's Day raid. (A2 Televizion)
