People who can fall asleep quickly do not know how lucky they are, as many people need half an hour to fall asleep. According to a survey by Get Laid Beds, one in five people in the UK need up to two or three hours to sleep after going to bed.
The study reveals that those who have a habit of reading before bed tend to fall asleep quickly and have quality sleep. Some techniques to fall asleep faster usually focus on reducing stress before bed and promoting a calm and relaxed mental and physical state.
But what are some psychological tricks that bring great results and allow you to fall asleep quickly?
Try to stay awake
There is a term to describe this psychological technique: "paradoxical intent." You just need to lie comfortably in bed with your eyes open and repeat to yourself "Don't sleep" or "I can't sleep". Your eyelids will start to feel heavy and you will fall asleep in no time. Try it to believe it.
Method 4-7-8
To do this exercise you will need to place your tongue resting on the upper palate, just behind the teeth. Then blow the air out of your mouth. Then close your mouth, breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds and exhale through your mouth (always with your tongue resting on the upper palate) for 8 seconds. Repeat the whole process until you fall asleep.
Think about your day
Once you're in bed, restart the whole day starting from that moment and working backwards. You brushed your teeth, put on your pajamas, watched a movie, ate dinner, took the bus, drove home, and so on until you woke up. This effort will clear your mind of any thoughts or worries, leading you to sleep. (A2 Televizion)
