A very detailed interview given to the magazine "Paris Match", the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron has revealed a lot of her private life. She also confessed the doubts she had about formalizing her relationship with Emmanuel, 25 years younger.
In a rare personal account, the 70-year-old explained that she put off marrying Macron for nearly a decade because she feared it would ruin the lives of her children, who are around the same age as Macron.
Macron was 15 years old when he fell in love with Brigitte, who was married at the time. Brigitte taught drama at the Catholic school and her daughter was Macron's classmate.
"It took ten years. You can imagine what the children were hearing, but I didn't want to miss the chance to live happily," she said.
The "romance" started between them was considered a scandal in the province. As a result, Emmanuel Macron's parents sent him to Paris to attend another school, but his desire to be with the teacher remained alive inside him.
She admitted that at the time she told herself that Emmanuel would meet and fall in love with a woman his own age while in Paris, but it didn't happen. Brigitte's son is three years older than Macron, and the 46- and 39-year-old daughters today are quite close in age to the French president.
