"Don't drink water from the same plastic bottle," Chinese

Scientists continue to study the health effects of drinking water packaged in plastic. A recent study by Chinese scientists, published in Communications Biology, has highlighted the potential risks of microplastics absorbed through bottled water.

According to this study, plastic bottles are the main source of microplastics that enter the human body. In addition, they transport a pollutant known as benzopyrene, which is toxic and is found in the environment. The study emphasizes that these plastic particles, after being absorbed through the digestive system, can damage internal organs, especially the intestinal wall and kidneys, causing inflammation and serious health consequences, writes A2 CNN.

Microplastics are very small, about five millimeters in size, making them extremely difficult to eliminate. They are found not only in water, but also in food, seas and oceans. In most cases, microplastics are created by the fragmentation of larger plastic waste.

As an alternative to bottled water, the use of reusable bottles and filtering tap water is recommended. Also, avoiding single-use plastics and using reusable packaging can help reduce plastic pollution and protect health. (A2 Televizion)
