Bertrand Glameau's story sounds like a fairy tale: after thirty years of construction work, on February 18th he found two gold bars. It happened during work on an old bank branch in the city of Angers, France. Glameau was working when, together with two of his colleagues, they found an abandoned bag containing a real treasure.
Enzo Thomasseau and Alexandre Beaussier were "lucky" after checking what was inside a bag forgotten in a closet...
Two gold bars worth 200,000 euros. They weighed 995 grams each. The workers checked their value online and realized they had found two gold bars worth 200,000 euros. "I saw that inside there were two gold bars, with serial numbers and two or three sheets... for two minutes we thought we were rich!", Bertrand explained to Le Courrier, writes A2 CNN.
They were taken to the police after the emotions of the first minutes after the discovery, the workers made the decision to notify the authorities of their discovery to avoid any problems and to respect the law, which requires that gold be reported and handed over if found.
The police are responsible for finding the legitimate owners, and if they don't find them, the workers cannot recover the gold and will not receive any compensation.
Before sending the gold to the police, Bertrand kept it at home because he didn't want to leave it in the truck. The workers also took advantage of this discovery and took a photo, which they showed to friends and family. (A2 Televizion)
