"The biggest productivity killer," Steve Jobs discovered 40 years ago

Steve Jobs, the founder and former CEO of Apple, the company with the largest market capitalization on the stock market, is known as one of the most influential figures in the world of technology. However, in addition to Apple, Jobs has also led other important projects, such as the company NeXT, founded in 1985 and focused on developing workstations for businesses and educational institutions.

While at NeXT, Jobs shared with staff one of his strongest beliefs about what he believed destroyed productivity at the company: excessive meetings. In an internal memo, he wrote:

“Our company is based on the principle that a few good people can create a great product if they are not limited.”

Jobs believed that meetings often wasted staff time and served more to justify projects than to create successful products. He emphasized the importance of uninterrupted time for individual work, so he decided that every Thursday would be a meeting-free day at NeXT.

This attitude is not unique to Jobs. Elon Musk, the head of Tesla, X and SpaceX, has similar practices. He allows any employee to leave a meeting if it becomes irrelevant to them. (A2 Televizion)
