Ben Affleck has finally broken his silence about his divorce from Jennifer Lopez. In an interview for the April cover of GQ, the actor and director told the truth, elegantly denying the rumors and clarifying that there was no scandal or drama following the end of their marriage.
In a thoughtful and non-sensationalist tone, Ben Affleck says: "There's no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue. The truth is, when you talk to someone and ask, 'What happened?', there's no single answer. It's just the story of two people trying to figure out their lives and their relationships, as we all do, more or less."
A division that does not seek blame. And that in fact seems to be based on differences in character and approach to public life.
Ben Affleck, as he himself said, is more reserved and protective than JLo, who has always lived her career in the spotlight. "My temperament is a little more private than hers," he admitted.
"As is the case in many relationships, we don't always have the same attitude towards some things."
Speaking about the divorce, Ben Affleck added: "I have nothing but respect for Jennifer Lopez. There's a tendency to look for the root causes of a breakup. But the truth is much more mundane, more banal than you might think."
