A fan of Taylor Swift died on Friday evening during the concert that the famous singer held at the "Olímpico Nilton Santos" stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides fainted during the show and is believed to have suffered a cardiac arrest, according to her cousin, Estela Benevides. Doctors at the stadium tried to keep the young girl alive, but they could not.
In several videos shared on social media, Swift was seen pleading with stadium staff to give water to concertgoers, as according to multiple sources the stadium was too hot and water was not allowed to enter from outside.
Shortly after the show ended, Swift reacted to the shocking event, but wrote between the lines that the fan had passed away before entering the stadium.
Brazil has been gripped by a heat wave for several days and it is thought that during the concert the heat increased even further, causing temperatures to reach above 40 degrees.
"I can't believe I'm writing these words, but it's with a broken heart that we lost a fan tonight before my show. I can't even tell you how devastated I am by this," Swift wrote.
