Cryptocurrency exchange Bybit has been the target of a cyberattack, which was confirmed by CEO Ben Zhou in a post on the X platform. According to Coindesk, hackers managed to steal around $1.4 billion worth of ethereum (ETH) from Bybit's reserves.
This incident has had a negative impact on the cryptocurrency market, with the price of Bitcoin falling to around $97,000, while Ethereum has lost almost 4% of its value, falling below $2,700.
In his response, Ben Zhou emphasized that Bybit has the necessary reserves to protect its customers' assets and that, if the stolen cryptocurrencies are not returned, the security of users' assets is not at risk.
This attack has severely hit the platform, which until now ranked second in the world for cryptocurrency trading volume. (A2 Televizion)
