Chinese company Zeekr has unveiled its newest model, the 9X, at the Shanghai Auto Show, challenging traditional luxury brands like Audi, BMW and Mercedes with a luxury SUV at a much lower price.
The Zeekr 9X has even been compared to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, due to its similar design but much lower cost. The starting price is expected to be around £50,000 – much more affordable compared to the £300,000-plus price tag for a Rolls-Royce.
What makes the 9X even more attractive is the hybrid engine, which promises over 300 kilometers of autonomy on electric power alone and a performance approaching supercars: 0-100 km/h in just three seconds, writes A2 CNN.
Zeekr, which is part of the Geely conglomerate – which also owns Polestar, Volvo and Lotus – has recruited former Bentley design director Stefan Sielaff to lead the design of the 9X.
The model is a large SUV and has space for six or seven passengers, offering high practicality for large families. For those seeking maximum luxury, there is also a four-seat option.
The 9X can be fully charged in just 9 minutes. The “Super Electric Hybrid” system combines a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine with two electric motors, providing a total range of 1,500 kilometers. (A2 Televizion)
