An earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale struck Mount Athos in Greece at noon on Saturday.
According to foreign media, citing the analysis of the Geodynamic Institute, the epicenter of the earthquake is in the maritime area at a distance of only 9 km west-northwest of Karya.
The earthquake tremors were felt at 3:48 p.m. and had a focal depth of 12.5 km, writes A2 CNN.
Seismic tremors were felt especially in Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Thassos, Kavala and other areas.
Five minutes later, at 15:53, a second earthquake occurred with an epicenter in the same area, the magnitude of which was estimated at 3.8 on the Richter scale. (A2 Televizion)
