In recent days, the island of Santorini in Greece has been shaken by a series of earthquakes, which, according to seismologists, could lead to a major earthquake or a volcanic eruption.
According to information from protothema.gr, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will most likely arrive in Santorini tomorrow morning, accompanied by Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias. He is expected to be in Fira and talk to the state apparatus personnel who have been sent there, as well as the remaining residents, writes A2 CNN.
A state of emergency of Civil Protection was declared in the Municipality of Thira following the decision of the Secretary General of Civil Protection, Vasilis Papageorgiou, to address the emergency needs and manage the consequences of the seismic activity that has recently occurred in the above-mentioned area. This declaration will be valid from 02.01.2025 to 3.3.2025.
Specifically, the decision states: "We hereby declare a State of Emergency of Civil Protection for the Municipality of Thira, of the Thira Regional Unit of the South Aegean Region, to address the emergency needs and manage the consequences caused by the seismic activity.
