Liridona Beqiri, a lawyer in North Macedonia, in a live broadcast on "Off the Record" with Andrea Dangli on A2 CNN, stated that the tragedy at the disco in Kocani is evidence of the decay of state institutions.
"The tragedies happening in North Macedonia are accidents that reveal a very serious reality for the security system and emergency management in the country. These preventable losses of life are the ultimate testament to the rot within our institutions. It is a wake-up call, to stand up and demand accountability, to ensure that no family is harmed by the indifference of those in power. This is a betrayal of the very foundation on which our society stands. The justice system must be dismantled and rebuilt from scratch. We are dealing with systemic corruption that undermines justice," said journalist Liridona Beqiri.
"It is not only fitting to find the guilty, but it is our responsibility as a society. It is a tragedy that has been born for many years from institutional failures and government dysfunction. The club where the fire broke out should have been subject to inspections and safety protocols were not implemented. The government, the regulatory bodies have failed.
