The Minister of Internal Affairs of North Macedonia, Pance Toshkovski, has announced that 15 people are in police custody following the fire at the "Puls" discotheque in Kocani, where over 59 people lost their lives as a result.
Toshkovski said that employees of the Ministry of Economy, employees of the discotheque, as well as the former director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue, have been arrested.
"Up to this moment, in connection with this criminal-legal event there are more than 20 suspects. About 15 people are at the police station. Some of the suspects in causing this criminal-legal case have passed away. 4 people are currently hospitalized, 2 members of the band, the son of the disco owner and the manager of the company that managed the disco. Some of the detained people, who are currently at the police station, are people who are directly guilty in connection with this event, according to the evidence we have," said Toshkovski, writes A2.
"According to the evidence we have so far, a person has been arrested who is the organizer of the event, and whom we suspect is one of those directly responsible for committing specific criminal offenses in this case. Also, the former state secretary of the Ministry of Economy has been arrested, I think the current head of a sector within the Ministry of Economy, we have arrested the former director of the Directorate for Protection and Rescue and 3 employees of the Directorate," added Toshkovski.
