Friends and relatives of people injured in a deadly nightclub fire in North Macedonia wait outside a hospital in Skopje for news on their condition.

Simeon Sokolov, 50, says his daughter Anastasija, 23, was being treated in hospital for burns and smoke inhalation. Through tears and emotion, he said that "there are many children who are suffering", wishing them survival and recovery.

"I am the father of one of the children affected by the great tragedy in Kocani. Anastasija Sokolov is my daughter, she is here in the Skopje hospital, she was in Shtip for several hours, she has burns, she also has smoke inhalation, and she is here for treatment with a respirator, she is in stable condition. Most importantly, she is alive. And we are waiting for more news, that's all we know for now. I only know that there are many children who have suffered. We were in hospitals the whole time. The doctors are doing their job, but the number is large. May God grant that everyone survives and gets well," the father said, according to A2.

The fire that killed at least 59 young people and injured 160 others started at the Pulse nightclub when the roof caught fire from a pyrotechnic display, authorities said. 27 people have been admitted to Skopje City Hospital with serious burns and 23 others are being treated at the Clinical Center. Among the injured are minors.

Health Minister Arben Taravari said that 18 people are in critical condition. While Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski called this a difficult and very sad day for Macedonia!

"The loss of so many young lives is irreparable, the pain of families, loved ones and friends is immeasurable," the prime minister said, as Macedonia enters a week of national mourning. (A2 Televizion)
