The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina said on Wednesday that INTERPOL has not accepted its request to review the decision not to issue arrest warrants for two senior officials of Bosnia's Serb entity, Republika Srpska.
In March, INTERPOL rejected the Bosnian Court's request to issue international arrest warrants for Milorad Dodik, the president of Republika Srpska, and Nenad Stevandic, the speaker of the People's Assembly of Republika Srpska.
On Wednesday, the Bosnian Court said that the international criminal police organization has refused to reverse this decision.
"Due to the nature of the communication with NCB INTERPOL, namely the confidentiality of the information, the Court is unable to provide further details," the court said.
Dodik and Stevandic, as well as the Prime Minister of Republika Srpska, Radovan Višković - who is not named in the international arrest warrant request - are accused of violating the constitutional order of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Therefore, the Bosnian Court issued national arrest warrants against them in March, after they failed to respond to a summons from the Bosnian General Prosecutor's Office for questioning.
The national arrest warrant means that each of the 16 police agencies at all levels of government in Bosnia must arrest them, which has not happened to date.
They continue to regularly perform their duties in the Bosnian Serb entity.
The Bosnian prosecution initially requested the issuance of international arrest warrants, saying that Dodik and Stevandic “exploited their high positions in Republika Srpska, bypassed border control procedures stipulated by law, crossed the state border and left Bosnia.”
Both officials have traveled abroad several times since national arrest warrants were issued against them.
Since Dodik was sentenced to a year in prison and banned from holding office for six years in March, authorities in Republika Srpska have passed a series of laws prohibiting the work of state judicial and investigative bodies on the territory of the Serbian entity./ REL (A2 Televizion)
