Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has reacted sharply after yesterday's protests in Belgrade, demanding new elections.
In a statement to the media, Vučić condemned the violence at the protests and blamed it on the protesting citizens, who, according to him, have violated the law.
He said that arrests will continue for all those involved in the riots, adding that there will be no pardon for anyone who commits violence.
"For seven months, terror has been practiced by people who have taken the law into their own hands and violated it. And they behaved like messengers of God, who can do whatever they want. I call on the Prosecutor's Office to do its job, the time for responsibility has come.
I will not forgive, there is no forgiveness for those who commit violence. Not only young, arrogant and conceited people participated in that violence, but also old people who incited them for the sake of personal political ambitions. They were late because the rally was late. It was clear that after that they would use violence, I just don't know what they had in mind, that they would be stronger than the state. The definition of a state is that it has power, there is nothing stronger than the state.
"There will be many more arrests for attacks on the police, this is not the end. We are working on identifying the person, the BIA is also working on this, whose members I am grateful to, and the members of our other agencies and services, whose job this is," Vučić said, among other things.
