Government after massive protests, Vučić introduces Serbia's new prime

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić will present the name of the country's new prime minister tonight.

This is reported by the media in Belgrade, but without revealing who the next head of government might be, or which ministers will leave or stay.

"Based on constitutional powers, the President of the Republic will propose a candidate for Prime Minister to the National Assembly, after hearing the opinions of the representatives of the selected electoral lists," the Serbian presidency announced, writes A2 CNN.

The deadline for electing a new government expires on April 18 at midnight. After consultations with parliamentary parties held on Wednesday and Thursday, the leader of the Serbian Progressive Party, Miloš Vučević, said that the party is in favor of forming a new government and added that the alternatives have been reduced to two people.

President Vučić announced on Thursday that SNS representatives asked for his opinion and that they were still "deciding" whether to go with the party's candidate for prime minister or a non-party candidate.

Vučević's resignation came after the largest student protests in Serbia's history. (A2 Televizion)
