Greek media have revealed new information regarding the actions of the 59-year-old spy from Georgia, who was working on behalf of Russia and was arrested a few days ago in Alexandroupolis after a joint operation by the Security Service and the police.

As it emerges from the investigation, which is still ongoing, the arrested man had received specific instructions from the Eastern European man, who had recruited him on behalf of the Russian side.

He instructed him on how to move around the area in order to avoid detection by the Greek police.

"How can I go take pictures without being noticed?" the 59-year-old asked his recruiter, who replied: "Wear sports clothes, dress accordingly, take a stick with you, make it look like you're going hiking."

According to informed sources, the criminal who recruited the 59-year-old and who was later arrested in Lithuania, had been in Greece for approximately 6 months.

After the 59-year-old was arrested, a search was conducted at his home and a warehouse, and the material found on his cellphone was from last month.

The case began to unravel when the Greek Secret Service received information about the actions of the 59-year-old, who is accused of being recruited by a Russian intelligence service with the aim of sending photos and videos from military installations in Alexandroupoli and the movements of military vehicles and equipment from this NATO base.

The 59-year-old, during interrogation, claimed that the person who contacted and recruited him told him that he could pay for his services. However, he replied that he was not doing this work for money, but for "Mother Russia", since as the "spy" said, he had served in the Soviet army. (A2 Televizion)
