After a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that the world is entering "a turbulent era that will last" and that "it is good that Serbia has a great ally in Europe, France."
Vučić told reporters that he discussed geopolitical issues and the situation in Serbia with Macron.
"We discussed a number of issues related to Serbia's European future and I asked France to participate in Expo 2027 in Belgrade, and I think we received a positive response," the Serbian leader said.
Vučić stated that the most difficult issue is the situation in Republika Srpska, an entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"I have fought to find a compromise solution. I cannot accept that the only solution is the arrest of [Republika Srpska President Milorad] Dodik. This is not a solution, it is creating problems," he said, adding that he had presented his ideas for resolving this crisis, but without specifying what ideas he was talking about.
Speaking about the blockades and protests in Serbia, Vučić stated that he told Macron that his country "has faced terror" in the last four months.
By blocking faculties and holding protests for several months now, students in Serbia are demanding that Serbian authorities be held accountable for the deaths of 16 people after a concrete shelter collapsed at the Novi Sad train station.
The student protests have become a symbol of broader dissatisfaction with the rule of law in Serbia, as questions have been raised about whether the accident in Novi Sad was caused by systemic negligence and corruption./ REL (A2 Televizion)
