One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a knife attack at an electrical utility company in southern Germany on Tuesday. According to local police, the fight broke out among employees at the Ueberlandwerke Rhoen company in the Bavarian town of Mellrichstadt.
A 21-year-old German man was arrested at the scene and is not a threat to the public, authorities said. There are no indications the attack was politically or terrorist-motivated, they said. The suspect is due to appear in court on Wednesday, A2 CNN reports.
"A 59-year-old woman lost her life in the attack, and two other men aged 55 and 62 were seriously injured," police said in a statement.
This is the latest attack in a wave of knife attacks in Germany in recent months.
Germany's largest police unions have called for increased video surveillance, increased staffing and additional checks to deal with the rise in such violence. (A2 Televizion)
