At least 16 people were killed and 35 others were injured last night in a Russian attack on a penitentiary facility in the Zaporizhzhia region of southeastern Ukraine, the head of the region's Military Administration, Ivan Fedorov, announced on Telegram, as reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
"During the night, the enemy bombed the Zaporizhzhia region eight times, previously with FABs (remotely guided aerial bombs). They also hit the penal colony: 16 people died and 35 were injured," Fedorov said, adding that the prison facility was destroyed in the attack and several nearby houses were damaged, writes A2 CNN.
He did not specify how many prisoners or prison staff members may have been among the victims.
According to Ukrainian authorities, in total, Russians carried out 672 attacks on 14 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia Region over the past 24 hours. (A2 Televizion)
