At least eight people have been killed and many others injured after a bus collided with a truck in southeastern Mexico.
The accident happened in the early hours of Friday in the state of Veracruz, between the cities of Xalapa and Perote.
Three men, four women and a child have lost their lives, while 27 injured have been sent to the hospital, says the prosecutor's office, which is conducting investigations to clarify the causes of the fatal traffic accident.
About 15,000 people were killed and 40,000 injured in traffic accidents and accidents recorded in 2023 in Mexico, according to Major General Cruz Issac Muñoz Navarro, the National Guard's road safety officer. (A2 Televizion)
