Police have arrested the alleged perpetrator of the murder of health insurance chief Brian Thompson in New York last week. It is about 26-year-old Luigi Mangione from Maryland, who was arrested today at a McDonald's.
The arrest occurred because a gun similar to the one used in the murder was found on the man. The man allegedly tried to use a fake ID at McDonald's, police sources said, as cited by the New York Post. He also had with him "a manifesto," a pistol with a silencer, four fake IDs and other items consistent with what authorities know about the suspected killer.
"We don't think there is any specific threat to the other people mentioned in that document, but it appears he has ill will toward corporate America," Police said.
On Saturday, New York authorities released two more photos, one of which was taken in a taxi. In both cases the suspect's face was covered by a blue surgical mask. The police had also disclosed the contents of the backpack that the killer had abandoned in Central Park before leaving Manhattan: inside was a Tommy Hilfiger jacket and fake Monopoly dollars.
