US President Donald Trump warned Tel Aviv that “Israel will have to make a decision” on Gaza after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu denied that Jerusalem had any role in widespread aid shortages there. Trump, who is on a four-day visit to Scotland, was asked by a reporter about images emerging from Gaza of starving children, which he said he found “horrific.”
"I mean, they're devastated. And I said, when you get it down to a certain number, you're not going to be able to make a deal with Hamas, because once they hand them over, then they think that's the end of them. And what I said is absolutely true. You know, they had a routine discussion the other day and suddenly they stiffened. They don't want to give them back. And so Israel is going to have to make a decision," declared US President Donald Trump.
The president complained that the US had donated $60 million to the much-maligned Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, which has taken over the distribution of aid to the Strip, while “no other country gave anything,” he said. The current figure the US has given to the Hague Fund is $30 million, and the US is also far from being the only country donating humanitarian aid. It is not even the largest donor, as the United Arab Emirates has given a larger percentage of the aid, Israeli media point out.
Trump's harsh reaction comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's shocking statement that there is no hunger in Gaza. In a reaction to the media in Jerusalem, Netanyahu denied that Israel is obstructing humanitarian aid.
"The main thing I want to emphasize is the importance of winning the battle for the truth. And this is a battle that we are fighting now. Israel is presented as if it is implementing, a hunger campaign in Gaza. What a bold lie. There is no hunger policy in Gaza and there is no hunger in Gaza. We enable humanitarian aid to enter Gaza for the entire duration of the war. Otherwise, there would be no Gazans. And what has stopped the supply of humanitarian aid is a force, Hamas. Again, the subversion of the truth. Hamas steals, steals this humanitarian aid and then accuses Israel of not supplying it," declared Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of Israel.
Meanwhile, at least 13 Palestinians, including two children, were reportedly killed and several others injured after Israeli forces opened fire on people waiting for humanitarian aid in northern and southern Gaza. In the southern enclave, six civilians were killed near an aid distribution center southwest of Khan Younis, where crowds had gathered hoping to receive essential supplies amid Israel’s ongoing policy of systematic starvation in the besieged enclave. Meanwhile, six more Palestinians were killed after being targeted by Israeli army fire near an aid distribution center on the outskirts of Rafah. (A2 Televizion)
