Ukraine: We received the first funds from the UK, taken from $1 billion in

Ukraine has received the first tranche of funds worth $1 billion (£774 million) from the UK, obtained from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets, according to the country's prime minister.

According to foreign media, Denys Shmyhal says: "The funds will go to strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities."

"We expect all sovereign assets of the Russian Federation to be confiscated and transferred for the benefit of our country in the future," Shmyhal further said, writes A2 CNN.

We recall that the decision to freeze Russian assets came after the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, when Russia launched unjustified aggression against its western neighbor.

Recall that US President Donald Trump has promised to work towards achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine, by holding discussions with both sides.

So far, nothing concrete has been achieved, although talks are ongoing, writes A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
