Two Norwegian F-35 jets stationed in Poland took to the skies in response to a provocation by Russian aircraft in the air, which approached Polish airspace, NATO's air command said on Friday.
According to foreign media, this is the first time that Norway's F-35s have been used in Polish airspace since they were deployed there last December.
Meanwhile, it is reported that a Dutch frigate arrived in Tallinn, near the Baltic Sea, as NATO increases its presence to help protect critical underwater infrastructure.
"Trump" is supporting the NATO-announced action called "Baltic Sentry", which will deploy frigates, patrol aircraft and naval drones stationed in the area, writes A2 CNN.
“Not long ago we had a problem in these waters with critical underwater infrastructure. There is a perceived threat to that critical underwater infrastructure and we are here to help,” said General Arjen S. Warnaar, who currently commands NATO’s Standing Maritime Group.
'Baltic Sentry' was created after a series of incidents in which power cables, telecom connections and gas pipelines were damaged in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
Finnish police last month seized a tanker carrying Russian oil and said they suspected the ship had damaged the Finnish-Estonian Estlink 2 power line and four telecommunications cables by dragging its anchor across the seabed. (A2 Televizion)
