Israel's cabinet has approved the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said.
According to foreign media, in the early hours of Saturday after a meeting lasting more than six hours, the government ratified the agreement.
Under the deal, fiercely opposed by some hardline cabinet members, a six-week ceasefire will take effect on Sunday, with the first of a series of hostage-for-prisoner swaps that could pave the way for an end to the 15-month war in Gaza.
According to reports, 24 ministers in Netanyahu's coalition government voted in favor of the deal, while 8 opposed it, writes A2 CNN.
On Friday, the Israeli Security Cabinet voted in favor of the ceasefire agreement, which was the first step towards the finalization that occurred this morning.
