Israeli Air Force fighter jets have launched an airstrike in the eastern Lebanese city of Baalbek, hitting a building housing Syrian refugees. International media reports that minutes before the airstrike, the Israeli military warned residents and ordered them to leave the building, reports A2 CNN.
Eyewitnesses reported that powerful explosions followed the airstrike. Ambulances and emergency vehicles were spotted in the area. Lebanese authorities have not yet commented on the aftermath.
Meanwhile, the Israel Defense Forces press office said it had struck a weapons depot belonging to Hezbollah's Air Defense Unit, writes A2 CNN.
"The presence of weapons in the area poses a threat to the state of Israel and constitutes a clear violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon," the IDF said in a statement. (A2 Televizion)
