A private plane with five people on board ended up in the waters of Coos Bay after skidding off the runway at Southwest Oregon Regional Airport on Monday morning, around 6:00 a.m. local time.
The plane skidded off the runway and ended up in the waters of the bay adjacent to the airport. The four passengers and one crew member were rescued and immediately transported to the hospital. Details of their medical conditions have not yet been released.
The cause of the accident remains unknown, and investigators and airport officials have yet to comment. The airport has been closed to all air traffic while crews work to clean up hazardous materials and remove the plane's debris, A2 CNN reports.
