Russian troops have taken control of the settlement of Katerynivka in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine.
According to foreign media, the news was announced by the Moscow Ministry of Defense in comments reported by the state news agency RIA.
Katerynivka is near the strategic Ukrainian town of Pokrovsk, where Russian forces have been focusing their advance for months, writes A2 CNN.
The Ukrainian military has reported success in recent weeks in holding back Russian forces near the road and rail hub.
