The European Union has fined Apple and Meta 700 million euros ($797 million) in the first enforcement of the new digital competition law, A2 CNN reports.
The penalties for violating the Digital Trade Act come amid criticism from the Trump administration of the EU for what it sees as an unfair attack on American companies.
The European Commission, the EU's executive arm, said on Wednesday it had fined Apple (AAPL) 500 million euros ($570 million) and Facebook's parent company, Meta (META), 200 million euros ($228 million). (A2 Televizion)
