A shocking announcement came Sunday evening from the Biden family. Former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer, which has spread to his bones.

Biden, who underwent a medical check-up last week due to urinary tract symptoms, was diagnosed with high-grade prostate cancer on Friday, the former White House office said in a statement.

The statement further adds that the 82-year-old and his family are considering possible treatment options, A2 writes.

Dr. Chris George says: "When the cancer has spread to the bones, it is stage 4. This means the cancer is not curable. There are no treatments available that can cure it. However, there are therapies that help to keep it under control and I assume that the doctors who are taking care of him are thinking of the right ways."

According to the American Cancer Society, 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. A flood of messages of support poured in for the former president as the news broke.

White House President Trump wrote on social media that he and First Lady Melania were saddened by the news of Biden's illness. "We extend our warmest condolences to Jill and the family. We wish Joe a speedy and successful recovery," the message said.

Former President Kamala Harris wrote that she and her husband are praying for the Biden family. Former President Barack Obama, who had Biden as his vice president, also responded. Obama said that he and his wife Michelle were thinking of the entire Biden family.
