Russian media have published an image of Bashar al Assad in Moscow, where he is seen with his family members.
Bashar Al Assad has been president of Syria for more than 24 years, while his family members have ruled the country for more than 50 years.
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is in Moscow, a Kremlin source said, Interfax quoted.
"Syrian President Assad and his family members arrived in Moscow, based on humanitarian considerations, they were granted asylum," the Kremlin source said.
According to him, "Russia has always supported the search for a political solution to the Syrian crisis".
"We follow the need to resume negotiations under the auspices of the UN," added the source. (A2 Televizion)
