The bus was traveling to the regional capital Sumy, near the Russian border, on Saturday morning. Citing preliminary information, regional head Oleh Hryhorov said the bus was hit by a Russian Lancet drone, in what he described as an inhumane act, A2 CNN reports.
While the Ukrainian national police said it was a cynical war crime. "The Russian military has once again struck a civilian object, disregarding all norms, international law and humanity.
Moscow has not commented directly but said it had struck a military zone in Sumy.
